The practical consequence: waiting until 27 November is not a strategy. Prices on popular items often move several times across November, and the lowest price is not reliably on the day itself.

How to Tell Whether a Black Friday Deal Is Genuine

A large percentage off a reference price tells you nothing on its own. What matters is the price you actually pay against what the item has sold for recently.

1. Match the exact product. Check the model number, storage size, colour and what is in the box. Retailers stock variant models during Black Friday that differ from the standard version.
2. Check the price history, not the RRP. Use a price-tracking tool for Amazon listings, or check the same model at two or three other retailers. A “was” price set briefly in October is not a real reference point.
